Stop Me Before I Buy Again: Intuit + Eclipse
Continuing its busy deal year, accounting and tax software giant Intuit Inc. has announced its fifth acquisition, the $85 million purchase of Eclipse, a vendor of management software for durable goods distributors.
The asset transaction supplements Intuit's drive to dominate the small business software market, a course that will take it into increasing competition with Microsoft, its old suitor in an earlier deal that was nixed by Government trust-busters.
Eclipse will bring revenues of about $45 million to the combined entitity, which now forecasts FY 2002 sales of about $1.7 billion.
