Dotcom Die-Off Slows
According to a TechDealmaker news item today, the rate of shuttered dotcoms has been declining since May, 2001, hitting a new low with only 12 folding in April.
That mortality rate compares to the carnage of the prior April when about 60 hit the wall, and is the lowest rate since August, 2000.
Optimists may regard these statistics as an indication that demand for dotcom services is rising. Cynics would probably argue that the Darwinian scythe -- already having cleared the field of most of the weaker players -- is now finding less to slice.
