In another deal adding to the recent flurry of transactions in the data transport and manipulation business, Pervasive Software (PVSW) yesterday completed its acquisition of Data Junction for $22 million in cash and about $30 million in stock.
Austin-based Pervasive sells embedded database technology and other data-management solutions. Data Junction, also based in Austin but privately-held, specializes in ETL (data extraction, transformation and loading) software, and recently, EAI. The company generated sales of $14 million during its last fiscal year, with income of $2.7 million. Therefore, Pervasive paid rich multiples for Data Junction -- about 3x trailing revenue and 19x income.
Pervasive, with about $40 million in 2002 revenues and a marketcap of about $130 million, purchased data security/auditing technology from ThinkNet last April.
